A session with the Headmasters of a few schools around Siliguri was held on Sunday, 2nd December 2018 at Siliguri where some thoughts of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother on education were discussed along with the experiences of implementing a few at Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir.

Siddhi Day was observed on Saturday, 24th November 2018 at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre. Sri Subhasish Kanjilal, Sri Prasun Kanti Paul and Sri Partha Sarathi Bose and Miss Anamika Dutta (from the Art Section) spoke on the theme "Siddhi Day - the relevance for me". An enthralling session of tabla lahara by Sri Sudip Chatterjee followed. The Centre was decorated with lamps for the occasion.

 

Teachers' Workshop at Siliguri - September 2018

A workshop based on Sri Aurobindo and The Mother's ideas on integral education for teachers from 5 primary schools in and around Siliguri was held on 1st and 2nd September 2018. The workshop where 58 teachers attended was organised by Sishu Malancha School, Siliguri, and conducted by Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir, Kolkata.

The programme began with an introductory session on the three principles of education by Sri Aurobindo and the five aspects of education by The Mother. This was followed by the first workshop on training of the senses. In the post lunch session, a second workshop was held on the topic - how to make learning interesting. Both these workshops were conducted by the teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir. There was a guardian meet (involving the parents of Sishu Malancha, Siliguri) where the Principal of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir addressed the assembled parents on the present day problems being faced in parent-student as well as parent-school relations. This was an interactive session.

On the second day, a session on mathematics was held by resource person Sri Swapnendu Nandi, from Siliguri. This was again followed by the third workshop conducted by the teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir where participants were organised into groups and were given projects to be made and presented. The group giving the best presentation was given small mementos. In the winding up session, Mr. Kabyick Ganguly, Principal of Sishu Malancha, thanked the team from Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir for the workshop; Mr. Partha Sarathi Bose, Principal of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir urged the participants to slowly put the inputs from the workshop into practice in their respective schools. On both days, books on Sri Aurobindo and The Mother and their thoughts on education were displayed for interested readers to procure.

On Saturday, 1st September 2018, a special discourse was arranged at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre at 5 pm. The theme of this discourse was - "The Secret of the Transcendent - Birth Hour" and was conducted by Sri Sanjay Biswas, a qualified software professional who is also a Sanskritist and a firm exponent of the sacred ancient scriptures of India. In his discourse, Sri Biswas spoke at length about the advent of Lord krishna as mentioned in the "Bhagavat" and also pointed out similarities between the said book and Sri Aurobindo's epic poem "Savitri" He also discussed the contemporary relevance of ancient scriptures like the "Bhagavat" and various Upanishads and pointed out how even a layman could be benefitted by a thorough and sincere study of the said scriptures.

An eye check-up camp was conducted for the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir on 16th August 2018 where students of all classes (Nursery A to KG II) came for vision test and check-up. The camp was conducted by Sarada Seva Sangha, Shibpur, Howrah - a renowned organisation in eye care.

Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre and Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir celebrated 72nd Independence Day and the 147th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo on 15th August 2018.

Flag hoisting took place at 8am followed by patriotic song and dance by the students. All students were given cakes and chocolates. Parents along with students went to the shrine to pay respects to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Artwork by students prepared for the occasion were displayed for all to see.

A fifteen-minute meditation was followed by a cultural programme from 11am. A dance programme by our students was performed, choreographed and directed by our ex-student Sneha Das who now reads in class 10. This was followed by a programme of instrumental music - a fusion of band music by the Bangla band Ichchedana and classical instrumental sarod and tabla. Prasad was distributed at the end to all present.

As a follow-up of the workshop held at Pondicherry, teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir met for a day-long workshop on 6th July 2018. Sessions were held on training of senses, activities for learning and certain techniques. Probable incorporations and adjustments in the present curriculum were discussed aiming at improving imparting of instructions and learning.

A small team of teachers from Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir participated in the Basic Course in Integral Education – Theory and Approaches from May 16 to 23 at Sri Aurobindo Society, Pondicherry. The workshop aimed at learning about Integral Education and in a way to take forward the mission of Education as envisioned by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother by generating awareness and sharing practical approaches for the same. The participants included a number of principals, coordinators, teachers and parents of different schools from various parts of the country.

The workshop was divided into a number of sessions comprising study, discussions, exchange of ideas and activities, providing the participants a variety of exposure on different aspects of Integral Education and showing how learning could indeed be made joyful and creative. The sessions aimed at developing an experiential understanding for the teachers to begin with, included Three Principles of True Education, Integral Education Concepts, Concentration Activities, sessions on Art, Craft, Sense Awareness in Nature, Values, Skill Games, Educational Aids, Body Awareness, Sanskrit, Sessions on Understanding Maths, Visit to KG section of Sri Aurobindo Ashram School, Language Development at Primary level, Visits to Matrikunj, Park Guesthouse, Ashram Departments and Auroville.

Rabindra Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore was observed at Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir on 9th May 2018 by students who participated in songs, recitation and dance. Artworks prepared in which KG-II students participated were put up for display. The parents and guardians too observed the day at the guardians rest stop adjacent to the school where the school staff participated with them. Parents and guardians came up with the beautiful gesture of distributing sweets to all students.

A workshop on handwriting was held at Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir on Saturday, 5th May 2018 morning. Parents of Nursery B participated. Issues discussed in the session included introduction to handwrititng, motivational aspects, common mistakes to be taken care of in case of both English and Bengali handwriting. Points to remember for good handwriting and difficulties being faced by parents were also taken up.

Darshan Day commemorating The Mother's arrival for permanent stay in Pondicherry was observed with due solemnity at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre on Tuesday, 24th April 2018. The programme began at 5.30 pm with observing a period of silence with The Mother's music. The evening's programme was initiated by Mr. Partha Sarathi Bose after which Mr. Anurag Banerjee spoke on the significance of 24th April Darshan. Anamika, a senior student of the Art Section of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir recited the poem Chobbishey Epril by devotee poet Nishikanto. Mr. Subrata Send held a session on the theme Science of Living : Theory and Application followed by an interactive session on the same topic. The programme ended with a Tagore song sung by the singers of Bangla band Ichhedana. Tea and snacks were served to the assembled devotees.

An activity on the awareness on road safety for students of KG I and KG II of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir was held on Friday, 23rd March. Students were demonstrated how to cross roads while watching the traffic carefully, understanding the traffic signals and the need to stay alert and avoid jaywalking. The activity was planned and executed by the teachers of KG I and KG II of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir.

Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir has begun music classes for children as well as adults. Guitar classes are being held on Saturday mornings in two batches (the first from 8.30 am to 10.00 am and the second from 10.30 am to 12 noon) and synthesizer classes on Thursday evenings from 6.00 pm to 7.30 p.m. It is seen that the participants are taking quite an amount of interest in the classes attending them regulaly with enthusiasm.

Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir was invited to hold an orientation session for the teachers of Vidyamandir, a pre-primary and primary school in Shibpur, Howrah. The programme included the idea of integral education and points to remember for learning based on thoughts of The Mother, making lessons interesting through the use of innovative teaching aids and drawing and painting. Teachers of Vidyamandir school from the levels of Nursery to Class IV participated in the workshop and tried out things hands-on. The session was a whole-day one conducted by a team from Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir.

In the morning of The Mother's Birthday (Sri Ma Jayanti) on Wednesday, 21st February this year (2018) the day began with a silent prayer and cutting of a birthday cake where all workers participated. A "Sishu Utsav" followed where all the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir who attended were given toys and chocolates with their guardians paying respects at the Shrine with them.

On this day, the Annual Cultural Programme of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir is held every year. The same began at 5.00 p.m. Smt. Subhra Banerjee, Secretary - Sarada Seva Sangha, Shibpur, Howrah, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Prabrajika Dibyaprana Mataji, Secretary of Sree Sarada Ashrama, New Alipore, was present as Special Guest. Sri Anurag Banerjee, President of the Managing Committee was also present. Along with students who received prizes for their performances in the academic year 2017 and special prizes for the years 2016 and 2017, staff and sub-staff members who were not absent at all during the year 2017 were awarded prizes too for zero absenteeism. This was followed by a cultural programme where not only students but also ex-students as well as staff of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir participated. There were nursery rhymes, group dances and a drama. Prasad was distributed to assembled guests programme participants and the prize recipient children with their guardians.

The Art Section of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre organized an exhibition of the works of the students which was seen by guests and guardians of the Art Section who visited from 21st to 22nd February. This year, the Art Section held a special programme on 22nd February.

A day-long picnic programme was held on 6th February with students of KG-II and their mothers at MONOBITAN near Bakhrahat which was enjoyed by all who attended. Children enjoyed sessions of games and had a lot of fun along with breakfast and lunch.

The ART SECTION of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre organised a workshop on Sunday, 18th January. Students of the Art Section participated to work hands-on in areas viz. Oil painting, Watercolour, Glass painting, Origami and papercraft and Clay modeling. Around sixty five students participated. Art teachers from a few other institutions including Sri Aurobindo Centre of Education under Sri Aurobindo Ashram Centre, Purulia, participated as guests other that Art Section students. Guardians eagerly watched their wards working and at the end of the session expressed their interest to participate themselves in future workshops.

After the workshop, a seminar was held on the topic SRI AUROBINDO AND THE MOTHER ON ART where the thoughts of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother on the topic of Art was presented by Miss Moumita Ghosh, Sri Goutom Banerjee and Sri Prasun Kanti Paul to the guests and art teachers.

The teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir participated in an orientation programme conducted by Miss Moumita Ghosh on drawing and painting as a part of the learning process and improvement of handwriting and concentration through these activities. Colouring and painting activities were demonstrated. The drawing curriculum at the school was also discussed with changes to be implemented in the coming session 2018.

Siddhi Day was observed on 24th November 2017 - the day on which Sri Aurobindo experienced the descent of Krishna into his body in 1926. He explained - "The descent of Krishna would mean the descent of the Overmind Godhead preparing, though not itself actually bringing, the descent of Supermind and Ananda." Shortly after the Siddhi day in November 1926, Sri Aurobindo retired from daily contact with his disciples and placed the Mother in charge of their care. Thereafter, he saw them only a few times a year on what came to be known as Darshan days, Siddhi Day being one such day.

The day was observed at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre where Sri Badal Chakravarty, narrated experiences of his Ashram days at Pondicherry and his experience of seeing Sri Aurobindo (Badalda was there from 1944). The workers paid respects with devotional songs. An exhibition of paintings by devotee Sri Prasun Kanti Pal of Andul, Howrah, on inspirations from Sri Aurobindo's epic Savitri was organized on the occasion. Sri Prasun Kanti Pal narrated passages of Savitri on which he had made the paintings as well as his experiences while making the same. The centre building was decorated with lamps for the occasion.

An awareness programme involving parents and guardians of the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir was held during the period from 17th to 30th October 2017 according to age groups and classes. In the programme tips on general health of children were discussed stressing on hygene and healthy food habits that may be followed ensuring their fitness to make them less prone to diseases. The programme was conducted by Dr. Kumar Kaustubha Roy.

Independence Day and Sri Aurobindo Jayanti was celebrated with due solemnity and enthusiasm on Tuesday, 15th August, 2017.

As a part of the celebrations, a drawing and colouring camp was held among the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir on Friday, 11th August for which prizes for first and second positions would be announced in the four categories of Nursery A, Nursery B, KG-I and KG-II, subsequently.

The celebrations on the day of 15th August commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at 8.00 a.m. Students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir participated in a cultural programme - choreography with a couple of patriotic songs. The second part of the celebrations commenced with the Jayanti Meditation session at the Shrine at 10.30 am. This was followed by a repeat of the dance recitals by the stundents of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir and thereafter sessions of Classical Music - santoor and a sarod recital accompanied by tabla by young performers Kum. Hindoli Banerjee (santoor), Sri Arnab Bhattacharya (sarod) and Sri Sudip Chatterjee (tabla) which enthralled the audience. Prasad was given to workers and assembled guests. The entire proceedings were managed and co-ordinated to run smoothly by the tireless efforts of the workers of the Institution.

Summer Retreat at Ramgarh : 27th May to 2nd June 2017

A SUMMER RETREAT was organized jointly with Overman Foundation at MADHUBAN in Ramgarh, Uttarakhand, under Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi Branch. Begining on 27th May afternoon with the opening session addressed by Smt. Tara Jauhar (Tara di), the retreat went on upto 1st June where topics like relationships, stress, tension and anger management in the light of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother were discussed. Films and documentaries on Sri Aurobindo & The Mother as well as Pondicherry Ashram were also shown. The participants were taken on a tour to Nainital, Van Nivas (of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi, at Nainital) and the mountain retreat of Gnostic Centre in the upper hills of Ramgarh.

After spending a good seven days in the serene ambience of Madhuban, breathing the fresh air on the Kumaon Himalayas, the participants started to disperse from 2nd June, the camp coming to an end. In the feedback session on the last day, all participants unanimously remarked that such break away from the daily routine was indeed a memorable experience. The also opined that the retreat made them aware of the application of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother's thoughts on these topics in day to day life.

Darshan Day commemorating The Mother's coming to Pondicherry permanently was celebrated at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre this year in a rather out of the way manner when the workers involved in regular work at the Centre participated in a group discussion on the topic "Our aspiration for improvement" introspecting on areas of their work where they would like to improve upon to mstrive towards betterment.

An orientation session was conducted by Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir for the teachers of Rishi Aurobindo Mission School, Buroshibtole, Kolkata. Sessions on the idea of integral education, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, motivation and concentration were held by the Principal of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir, and other invited resource persons. Workshops on topics "How to make llessons interesting" and "Handwriting & Reading" were conducted by the teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir. Two publications from Sri Aurobindo's Action West Bengal on education and upbronging of a child and management in day to day life were distributed to their group of ten teachers including their Principal.

The session where all teaching staff of the School attended was conducted by Sri Ranjit Bhattacharya who deliberated on the deterents to concentration and the ways to overcome them in order to hold it for longer periods.

A team of teachers from Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir participated in the one-day conference organized by Future Education school at Chinsurah (Hooghly, West Bengal). Aspects of mental, physical and vital education were discussed. A keynote address on vital education was given on behalf of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir. The teachers discussed case studies in learning challenges along with other participants in the subsequent session.

The two-day conference was organized from 21st to 22nd January. On the first day (21st January), delegations from mainly Sri Aurobindo Centre schools in West Bengal viz. Durgapur, Purulia, Cheliama, Krishnanagar, Ushagram, Dogachia, Habra, Kalyani and Balichak apart from Kolkata gave presentations on the topic : The Mother"s thoughts on Education : experiences while implementing. There were sessions in between where teachers interacted with one another on their thoughts. The day"s session was inaugurated by Smt. Jayantika Basu, Secretary, Sri Aurobindo Society (West Bengal). The summing up at the end of the day was done by Sri Subrata Sen, Secretary, Sri Aurobindos Action West Bengal.

The second day's session (22nd January) was inaugurated by Prabrajika Dibyaprana Mataji, Secretary of Sree Sarada Ashram Balika Vidyalaya (Kolkata). Three keynote addresses - Introduction to the five aspects by Sri Subrata Sen, Mental, Physical & Vital Education (by Sri Partha Sarathi Bose) and Psychic & Spiritual Education by Smt. Soma Roychowdhury set forth the theme of the second day - the five aspects of education as laid down by The Mother. In the post-lunch session a workshop on the use of teaching aids to make learning interesting was conducted by the teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir. The day"s session was attended by teachers and Principals of twelve schools from the districts of Darjeeling, Purulia, Nadia, Howrah, South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore apart from Kolkata who joined for a general discussion at the end of the workshop to voice their opinion on the importance of integral education. The summing up was done by the Observer for the day, Sri Goutom Banerjee.

Invited by Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Kalyani (district Nadia, West Bengal) a team of teachers from Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir participated in the one-day conference organized there. Keynote address on the five aspects of integral education was presented. The teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir organized two elaborate sessions on making the lessons interesting through use of teaching aids and games for the kids.

On the occasion of Siddhi Day on 24th November, The Mother"s footwear received by Overman Foundation in September 2016 from Sri Aurobindo Ashram Pondicherry, was brought and placed for all to pay their respects (courtesy : Overman Foundation). In the evening, Smt. Soma Roychowdhury, conducted a session on PRAYER AND PEACE IN DAILY LIFE. The Session ended with a joint meditation where all present participated.

Smt. Chitra Bose, the Managing Trustee of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre and erstwhile Secretary cum Principal of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir, passed away on Saturday, 13th August 2016, at 11.55 p.m. Moving away from the common practice, no holiday was given on her passing away. Work was carried on as usual. She was cremated on 14th August afternoon. The very next day, Sri Aurobindo Jayanti was celebrated on 15th August as usual. the Institution remained OPEN on Sunday, 11th September and the staff reported for work as a mark of respect for Chitra di. Her remembrance meeting was held on 11th September evening where amidst a large gathering, many including friends, co-workers, admirers and well wishers reminiscended about their association with her and her service to The Mother in building up Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir.

Smt. Chitra Bose, the Managing Trustee of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre and the erstwhile Secretary cum Principal of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir, was given the AURO RATNA AWARD by Overman Foundation, for her lifetime contribution in the field of education in the Sri Aurobindo circle as well as her immense role in building up Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir. The award has been received prior to her by stalwarts in the Aurobindonian circle. Smt. Chitra Bose happened to be the first one from Bengal to receive this award. She received the award at her residence while she was seriously ill. She passed away a few days later.

Independence Day and Sri Aurobindo Jayanti was celebrated with due solemnity and enthusiasm on Monday, 15th August, 2016.

As a part of the celebrations, a drawing and colouring camp was held among the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir on Friday, 12th August for which prizes for first and second positions would be announced in the four categories of Nursery A, Nursery B, KG-I and KG-II, subsequently.

The celebrations on the day of 15th August commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at 8.00 a.m. Students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir participated in a cultural programme - choreography with a couple of patriotic songs and a prayer song thereafter in which all joined in chorus. Those present were given refreshments. The second part of the celebrations commenced with the Jayanti Meditation session at the Shrine. This was followed by a session of Classical Music - sarod recital and a violin recital thereafter which enthralled the audience. Prasad was given to workers and assembled guests. The entire proceedings were managed and co-ordinated to run smoothly by the tireless efforts of the workers of the Institution.

August being the month of Sri Aurobindo's birthday, Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, organized a series of talks on relevant topics. Speakers included Smt. Soma Roychowdhury on - Interpersonal Relations in the Light of Sri Aurobindo; Sri Subrata Sen on - Sri Aurobindo and the Crisis of Modern Man; Sri Goutom Banerjee on - Sri Aurobindo and Karmayoga; Sri Anurag Banerjee on a very interesting topic - Did Sri Aurobindo wish to Return to Bengal. Relevance of Sri Aurobindo in Present Times was presented by Prof. Supriyo Bhattacharya. Sri Bama Prasad Puitandy, Managing trustee of Sri Aurobindo Kendra, Purulia, discussed Crisis in Today's Education: Lights from Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The talks were held every week during the entire month of August.

The fourth "Subhash Kumar Mukherjee Memorial Oration" was organized by Overman Foundation on Saturday, 23rd July 2016 at the premises of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre. Chaired by Sri Partha Sarathi Bose, the session saw Sri Goutam Banerjee, noted speaker, writer and exponent of Aurobindonian philosophy and yoga, speak on the topic: Sri Aurobindo & The Mother on Problems of the Youth.

A Health Awareness Programme was held by Dr. Kumar Kaustubha Roy at Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir where parents and guardians attending were briefed on basic health tips, common diseases and healthy food habits for their children. The programme was held over a period of two weeks (class-wise) and was followed up by free check-up of students as on requirement.

An internal workshop for the teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir was held on Saturday, 9th July on developmental and mental health issues in childhood with an organization - Kolkata Anubhuti having experience of working in this domain. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Sreetama Ghosh, counselling psychologist. Behavioral trends and conduct with negative behaviour, psychological disorders, learning disorders with their reasons and disabilities witnessed in students were discussed. Suggested action of teachers in such cases as well as possible remedies were presented by the resource person with case studies and thoughts of innovations in teaching techniques in such cases.

A Teachers' Meet at Ambari (near Siliguri) on 23rd June was organized where Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir (represented by Sri Partha Sarathi Bose) was invited along with Sri Aurobindo"s Action West Bengal (represented by Sri Subrata Sen) to conduct a day-long meet with teachers from primary schools of the area on the theme : Educational thoughts of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother.

A Summer Study Camp was organized jointly with Overman Foundation from 8th to 14th June 2016. This was the first such Camp from West Bengal to be held at Van Nivas, a property of Sri Aurobindo Ashram - Delhi Branch perched on a hilltop at Nainital, Uttarakhand. During the Camp, sessions were held on topics in the light of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother viz. Stress & Anger Management, Leadership & Motivation and Relationships with its Complications & Solutions along with interactive sessions inviting questions as well as deliberations from participants. On a day in between, a trip was organized to Mukteswar, Madhuban (Ashram Centre at Ramgarh under Sri Aurobindo Ashram - Delhi Branch) and Tapogiri (the first Sri Aurobindo Centre in the Himalayas). Yoga sessions were held every morning. After the lecture and workshop sessions, participants went on short treks to nearby trekking spots. Documentaries on Sri Aurobindo Ashram as well as Sri Aurobindo & The Mother's ideals and thoughts were shown every evening.

An orientation programme for the teachers of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir was held on Saturday, 7th May. Teachers formed groups class-wise and gave presentations on the present curriculum and teaching methodologies being followed by them, introspecting on strengths and weaknesses and more important, areas of focus for the future. The programme was also attended by guest invitees who gave their inputs on deliberations of teacher groups focusing on ideals and ideas of education of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.

On invitation from Darjeeling Hills Unaided Schools Association, a deliberation as the inaugural keynote speaker was given on the educational thoughts of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother at their training camp organized from 2nd to 4th June 2016 at Rohini in the Darjeeling Hills. The Training Camp was inaugurated by Sri Roshan Giri, Executive Member - Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. The thoughts of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother - the five aspects of intergral education was presented to around 150 teachers mainly from the Darjeeling hills as well as Siliguri under the keynote address theme : Integral Education.

On the occasion of Darshan Day (24th April) an exhibition titled SRI AUROBINDO ASHRAMER ADIKATHA was organized depicting Sri Aurobindo's journey to Pondicherry and the early years there, notable events like coming of The Mother to Pondicherry, publication of Arya, the Ashram taking shape gradually, India's Independence and Sri Aurobindo's passing away upto formation of the Ashram Trust. A few exhibits like handkerchiefs used by Sri Aurobindo & The Mother, their autographed books and cards and The Mother's sarees were displayed - being borrowed especially for this exhibition from Overman Foundation. The exhibition was viewed by a good number of visitors on both the days.
