Sri Ma Library
"a book is the most tangible form of God"
The idea of a library was conceived and given shape around 1989 with books donated from the collection of Late Harendra Nath Mazumdar. The library was christened "Sri Ma Library". Over the years, the library has grown in size to have around 5,000 books and journals in its collection.
The library has a sizable collection of books on Aurobindo literature. Other subjects covered are religion, philosophy and scriptures, literature series, fiction, music, arts and story books for children. The library has a small reading section where members can sit and read during library hours.
The collection and member records have been computerized through a library application covering areas like acquisition, classification and cataloguing, membership, circulation and searching of titles. Proper classification and cataloguing has been done following the DDC guidelines. The library is under the supervision of a competent librarian with qualification in library and information science.
The membership of the library is at present open to Parents and Guardians of the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir, Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the Institution and Members of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre.
