Art Workshop – 8th December 2024

The Art Section of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre Trust arranged a workshop on Sunday, 8th December (2024) on various art forms like Lippan art, Glass painting, Rock painting, Umbrella painting, Textured acrylic colour on canvas, Pencil shading with charcoal powder, Tie and dye, Thumb and leaf painting, Painting without colours etc. Students from the institution as well as external participants tried their hands on different forms of art and crafts under the supervision of the art instructors. Chhandok Majumder, an ex-student of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir and currently a graphic designer at Udbodhan (Bagbazar), also joined the workshop as an instructor. The programme was inaugurated by singing Tagore’s verses ‘Aloker ei jharna dharay’ and lighting the lamp. Mr. Biswajit Ganguli, a trustee at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre Trust and Managing Trustee of Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Kolkata, lit the lamp and inaugurated the event. The enthusiastic participants of different age groups greatly enjoyed the hands-on experience. After the workshop, there was a presentation session on art. Mr. Prashun Kanti Pal, a devotee and painter, shared The Mother’s view on Art and how she inspired others to pursue art at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry. In another segment, Ms. Pinky Banerjee, an eminent actress, presented an interesting episode on the interpretation of Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. The day was well spent on practice and deliberations on the subject ART.
