Independence Day & Sri Aurobindo Jayanti 2026

Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, New Alipore, Kolkata, along with its units — Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir School, the Art Section and the Library — celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India and the 154th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo with great pride and patriotic fervour on 15 August 2026.

Students of the School and the Art Section gathered in the morning for the hoisting of the National Flag at 8:00 a.m. by the Principal of the School. This was followed by the National Anthem and a cultural programme comprising a collective drill, dances and chorus songs presented by the Upper and Lower KG students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir School and the Art Section. The students of the Nursery sections arrived thereafter with their parents. They were given chocolates and snacks and paid their respects at the Shrine. A meditation session was held at the Shrine from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m.

The concluding programme featured an enthralling “alekhya” of recitation and orchestra, presenting a harmonious fusion of Eastern and Western musical instruments played by young talented musicians. The presentation was based on the five dreams of Sri Aurobindo, as articulated in his historic address to the nation, broadcast by All India Radio, Tiruchirappalli, on the eve of 15 August 1947.

The celebrations concluded with the distribution of Prasad to all those present.
